Join A Program This Summer!
Fill your summer with adventure-filled, meaningful experiences that will last a lifetime. Join one of our programs catered to independent like-minded individuals such as yourself – starting every two weeks! Enjoy a homestay with a local family, or stay in our volunteer house while volunteering on some of our unique community projects. Then, take the opportunity to go on a 5 day trek to Lares – with natural hot springs galore.
We’ll start off by picking you up at the Cusco airport, and transporting you to our volunteer house located in Ollantaytambo – the last living Incan village. Our first day consists of a thorough orientation to the local culture and training for your service project, which will always be something useful for the community that will make a difference and be continually useful for the local population – even after you leave. We will then work towards our goals for four days – and set off on our trek! After five days of nature, we will return to our project site and continue volunteering.
Possible service projects include:
Building chicken houses
Spend your time in a specific community building chicken houses, and teaching local families how to raise chickens. These impoverished families will then have a source of income – selling eggs at the market and have food for their own family as well.
Building guinea pig hutches
Build sustainable guinea pig – or ‘cuy’, as the locals call them- hutches and help out families by giving them a reliable, locally-traditional source of income that can put food on the table – in more ways than one!
Plant trees by the local schools
All over Peru, wildlife and ecosystems are being disrupted and are disappearing. One reason is that trees from other locations have been planted and are overtaking the local trees. Spend your volunteer time planting indigenous trees and teaching kids the importance of their own nature – planting with them and teaching them how to nurture this new life around them.
In the Andes Mountains, it is difficult to grow crops other than potatoes and corn – the altitude and cold nights prohibit most vegetables from growing. You will help build greenhouses in communities so that they can grow some of their food for the village. Look at these great strawberries!
Volunteer on the Farm
Volunteer your time on our very own farm ‘Antanuca’! The food and produce grown here feeds three local indigenously populated schools. Spend some time getting to know the kids at the schools and see the end results of your labor!
Our five day Lares trek will usually take place in the middle of a two-week stay. If you decide the 5 day Lares trek is not the right option for you, you can decide to opt out and enjoy some of our other day trips instead – such as other touring, rafting, mountain biking,
